If you’re ready for an adventure the best vehicle to use is the RV that’s capable to store small-type vehicles like the ATV or bicycles for the long trip ahead. In the real world the modern RV (Recreational Vehicle) has been part of the American culture dating back to the earliest caravans as “a camper equipped with living quarters.”

The origins of the RV was known for covered wagons that played a significant part in opening up of the interior of the North American continent to white settlement, beginning circa 1745, was a type of caravan. A well set-up wagon provided its occupants with living quarters as well as a means of transportation for themselves, and their supplies and equipment.

Motor Home No More

The “MBX Motor Home” was introduced from 2008 to 2013 with different color and tampo variations were produced. It was included in the 5 and 10 pack themes and it was not the most sought after vehicle being a generic type of camper.

Matchbox has re-released this as part of the 2017 series and was renamed as the RV now with new color in silver for the front cab and lime apple green with dark accents with “Matchbox” and “500XL” tampos on both side of the camper body with minor intricate details on the lower side panels.

Wilderness Explorer

There have no running changes made for the RV as the chassis casting still indicate its still known as “Motor Home.” For those new to acquiring this vehicle you’ll be happy to know that this still have the functional opening rear ramp for storage for smaller vehicles like ATVs and motorcycles.

A generic truck that was customized to be made into a camper type vehicle also have roof windows that are slightly tinted, but the truck cab have clearer windows for you to slightly see the interiors that makes this one of the utility vehicles to look at.

Where No Camper Has Gone Before

Overall the RV is one of the rare Matchbox produced castings that has a functional gimmick like the rear door hatch for smaller vehicles to be stored. It’s the modern type of motor home that’s under sized for a 1:64 scale model that’s an interesting ride to bring when you’re ready to go through the wilderness.

“MBX-RV” is numbered 82 0f 125 diecast cars released for Matchbox in 2017 and it was acquired at Big W in Westfield Marion for $2.00 AUD (originaly retailed at $3.00 AUD) or PhP 80.00 in Philippine Peso.
