Before the festivities started rolling Mr. John Philip Orbeta, Presdent and CEO of Volkswagen Philippines addressed the guest and media with a special announcement that this will probably be their year and except of that announcement can be found here:

“We in the Volkswagen Philippines management team have lined up what we hope to be a fun surprise for you. Shortly, you will experience our own way of celebrating with you and for you and our own special way of saying “Maraming Salamat”.

This gathering is our humble way of showing our appreciation.

Since our brand launch in late-September 2013, we have already opened our first four dealerships. Aside from this BGC showroom which was formally inaugurated in February, our showrooms in Cebu and Quezon Avenue started operations in August and November, respectively.

Two weeks ago, we also launched our satellite showroom in Alabang. Along with the Volkswagen Greenfield Service Center in Mandaluyong City, our fully functional aftersales facility, we actually have now a total of five facilities across our network.

After only a year in business, indeed, we are expanding! And our growing presence allows Filipinos to own premium European products that are within reach.

You will also recall that we launched several new models in 2014, highlighted by the return of the iconic Beetle which continues to turn heads in our streets.

We have demonstrated the frugality of our engines in several fuel economy runs that established class-leading fuel mileage ratings for our model lineup: Beetle with 16.32 km/l; Touran with 21.93 km/l; Tiguan with 27.39 km/l; Jetta with 29.47 km/l; and, Polo with 30.47 km/l. Undeniably, Volkswagen vehicles are fuel efficient!

We’ve highlighted also our brand position in two major motor shows: the Philippine International Motor Show and the Manila International Motor Show. And on top of mentioned achievements, the Beetle and the Touareg received special citations from the Car Awards Group for MIAS Design Award and AAP Road Safety Award, respectively.

Likewise, the Touran as MPV with Best Safety Features and the Touareg as Runner-up in Luxury Midsize SUV of the Year were duly recognized by the Auto Focus People’s and Media’s Choice Awards. Without a doubt, the people have spoken!

JPO addressed what has transpired that their targets in reaching their goals since their launch in the last quarter of 2013 to 2014 was fruitful in opening up showrooms from around the country and launching cars like the New Beetle and introducing SUVs like the Touareg and Tiguan as well as a family alternative in the Touran.

There was more press release courtesy Mr. Klaus Schadewald, Chief Operating Adviser for Volkswagen Philippines who assumed the post in October 2014. He has been in the company for more than 25 years of work experience at Volkswagen in Germany and Australia can make VW the most approachable premium German brand in the country and this what he has addressed:

This year, we have many exciting plans that Filipinos will surely be glad to know. We will start with a highlight by first week of February--the Golf GTI. You had a sneak preview of the Golf GTI at the 5th Philippine International Motor Show in September 2014. Now the recipient of several awards from European Car of the Year, World Car of the Year, Car of the Year Japan, and the North American Car of the Year, it will be available to those who have been waiting for such a long time to see the car on Philippine roads.

February will also be the introduction of a new Touareg special model, followed by the launch of the Polo Hatchback, the Tiguan R Line and several new engines and transmissions. The year 2015 will close with the launch of the new Passat B8, which closes the gap to the high-end executive limousines.

I still have so many more good news to share, however, this gathering is intended for you…. and we want to thank you tonight for all your contributions in 2014 the “Volkswagen way.”

Instead of having a caterer serving you today, we will take over this part tonight.

We have prepared several food stations which represent Volkswagen locations around the world. There will be chili con carne and meatballs from Mexico and U.S. to be served by Mr. John Philip Orbeta (President & CEO); goulash soup from Hungary to be served by Ms. Nona Ong (CFO); tapas from Spain to be served by Mr. Arnel Doria (Marketing Director); various sushi and desserts to be served by Mr. Reggie See (Aftersales Director) and Ms. Monette Gaela (HR Head), respectively; and, drinks to be served by Mr. Jun Cajayon (Sales Director) and Mr. Josh Altarejos (Product Planning Manager).

The most highlight of the event would be much to everyone’s surprise lining up forand before the festivities begin Mr. Schadewald this what he said:

But let me mention one highlight – the Volkswagen Curry Sausage which I will prepare for you. Yes – you heard it right! VW is not only producing cars, VW is also producing curry sausages and is today one of the largest curry sausage manufacturers in the world. Every year, more than eight million sausages find their way to all VW locations in the world. And it is now available in the Philippines.
