01.26.2013 – If you have enjoyed watching the world of Cars then it’s time to take the skies and ride it out in the blue yonder with Planes! Originally the animated feature would be a direct-to-video for fall 2013 with a theatrical release in Europe.
DisneyToons Studios will be producing the film instead of the Pixar Animated Studio Team as announced. During D23 Expo on August 20, 2011 it was announced that Jon Cryer will be the voice of Dusty Crophopper which he later drop out of production and they have announced who will voice the propeller powered hero just stay tuned for future announcements.
The great news is that the film will now be a theatrical release and it will be directed by Klay Hall, “Planes” features Dusty, a small-town plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to naval aviator Skipper, who helps Dusty qualify to take on Ripslinger, the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.
Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International, “Planes” takes off in Philippine theaters in 3D on August 21, 2013 and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select cinemas.
