12.06.2011 – For anyone who had caught up with the TV sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” starring Will Smith aka The Fresh Prince you might recall his partner Jazzy Jeff. It was back in the 1990s that this duo not only entertained us on television. They also made the difference in the music scene as the hip-hop duo to earn the first rap Grammy Award.

The Philadelphia native Jeffrey Townes in real life has been spinning as a DJ on deck since he was 10 years old and has become a household name in the industry side by side with his partner The Fresh Prince aka Will Smith who repackaged himself to be the movie star.

Jeff got considerable praise as Jazz, Will’s best friend in the hit TV sitcom. Jeff’s first love will always be music which he set up his own production facility, A Touch of Jazz, which aimed to develop the musical talent in his home town of Philadelphia. In spite of a busy taping schedule and growing cinematic fame, Jeff and Will continued their musical career.

They released two more albums together, including Code Red, which featured the ridiculously popular classic “Boom! Shake The Room,” the 3rd rap single to reach number 1 status in the UK. In the span of seven years together they had created five albums which sold 14 million records together, won 2 Grammy awards and 3 American Music Awards.













Moving forward Jazzy Jeff made it on releasing his solo album “The Magnificent” who has a passion for the art of spinning and the rest is history. He had recently held a press conference at adidas’ flagship store in Greenbelt 3 earlier this afternoon to promote his one night show at 7th High in the Fort Bonifacio Global City. Jazzy Jeff’s arrival was praised by the local hip-hop community with such revelry and positive vibe.

Prior to the main event D-Coy was interviewed about the upcoming 2nd album dubbed “The Black Katipuneros” a fast rising talent in the hip-hop scene in the Philippines who talked about his passion in collaborating with legendary talent in Ray Valera in one of the tracks. He was interviewed along DJ Dash and Artstrong about the inspiration behind the album under Wika Records. D-Coy's second album contains 17 tracks which has different fusions of other genres that are well mixed of elements of Hip-Hop, thus elevating Tagalog rap scene in the country with his own brand of style.











When Jazzy Jeff arrived the crowed was in uproar with excitement. He gamely answered the questions being thrown at him by the media from his inspiration in starting a career in the music industry, and poking fun with MC Mad Skillz taste in forming a rock band.
Jazzy Jeff was accommodating along with his good hearted bouncers who managed to control the traffic when he signed some shirts for the fans. Well known street artist in Dee Jae Pa’Este did a live art prior to the opening of the program painting an image of Jazzy Jeff and having it signed by the man himself!

The press con itself is a all-star studded affair from the Philippine Hip-Hop community, and organizers of this pre-event was making everyone anticipate the excitement that Jazzy Jeff is about to bring this Wednesday at 7th High.
