07.14.2011 - For every NBA player out there one stands out to be the best in the game today. Kobe Bryant the five time NBA champion was in town for his Five City Tour dubbed Take Every Advantage Kobe Manila 2011. The day begun with his press conference at The Manila Peninsula Hotel at lunch time before every media who was present mobilized heading to Gawad Kalinga in Taguig.

Upon arriving Gawad Kalinga the crowd was up and alive just like a mad house waiting to erupt with the excitement waiting to happen. Kobe Bryant’s special mission in this tour is to encourage young athletes to reach for their dreams in this one-day visit.

Kobe Bryant arrives in two special black Ford vans upon introduction at the small basketball court, that he took responsibility to help refurbished.

He touched the lives of the GK youth development program SIGA (“siga” in Filipino means “to start a fire”). Kobe participated in the mini-games with the kids doing pushups and sit ups for the loosing team. He was speaking for the youth to be inspired by and giving their chance to fulfill their dream.













After the heartwarming speech to everyone he went back to his black van and proceeded to head to Nike Park at the Fort Bonifacio High Street.

The place was packed around Nike Park in hoping to see the famed LA Laker. Kobe Bryant was introduced by Gino and Aaron “Josh Strike” Atayde in front of the crowed. There Kobe was asked if he would be interested to bring is basketball youth camp to the Philippines. He said would look in to it as he gestured with a smile.

He gave away autographed basketballs to the crowed before he embarked on his last stop, which is at the Araneta Coliseum. There the much huge crowd was expecting his presence where he talked to Bianca Gonzales and Boom Gonzales on stage before seeing the UAAP All-Stars (consists of handpicked players from DLUS, Ateneo, and FEU) takes on the National Team in SMART Gilas for 10 minutes.













The place went into frenzy when Kobe Bryant talked to the people around him that he will be playing with the UAAP All-Stars. Upon approaching their bench he took off his shirt and wore the FEU yellow jersey handed by the team’s own coach.

Kobe would prove to everyone that he’s one of the best in the game making others elevate their own greatness on the court. From a 13 point deficit the UAAP All-Stars caught up with SMART Gilas National Team trailing only two points. Though the UAAP felt short it was an unforgettable experience seeing Kobe on the court was enough to electrify the Big Dome into a mad house.













The five time NBA Champion put up a show that everyone won’t forget. This is his third time in the Philippines and he definitely loves the crowd as he stated one of his favorite cities to visit.
