09.29.2017 – There have been taxi cabs in city and in reality they’ve been there to serve passengers and take them to their destination.

Taxis have been around part of transport culture and it has evolved, but stayed true to its concepts.

All over the world the taxi is one form of transport and Matchbox has produced several iterations using different car brands.

The most recent for 2017 is the Toyota Prius Taxi somewhat old, but if you didn’t blink and look closely its new actually.

There have been several versions of “Taxi” that Matchbox has produced over the years. Recently there was quite a decline but it still part why Matchbox is well known brand for bringing these mass transport vehicles in diecast form.

In the real world Taxis are slowly getting a lot of competition from UBER and so far there’s a power struggle right there in different parts of the world vying for passengers. In the Philippines it’s a whole lot of narrative particularly how UBER plays the role in the local transport scene.

Not You’re Average Yellow Cab

The Toyota Prius Taxi was based on the previous casting of the Toyota Prius Hybrid car that’s been around long enough to have a list of various colors and iterations. But for 2017 it was introduced as a serviceable taxi cab and it was originally introduced in green color with a different type of taxi service.

But there were changes too with the color (which will go through the details later) and this version would probably consider a second version. If you like the “Adventure City” theme chances are you’ll like getting this as part of your collection.

Running Changes and Service

When you look closely at the Toyota Prius Taxi there were changes to the colors as well as the casting. It’s not entirely a big change but just a minor noticeable part that would say this is a full fledge Toyota Prius Taxi, which you’ll immediately see on top of its roof that it is a TAXI with a mini-light bar.

Yes. This Toyota Prius Taxi is a new casting that’s based from the previous version with an added mini-light bar to differentiate itself from the regular Prius car. It’s 20% percent different and this casting looks better with its mini translucent light bar.

“Toyota Prius Taxi” is numbered 15 0f 125 diecast cars released for Matchbox in 2017 and it was acquired during a end of month sale at Coles in Westfield Marion for $2.10 AUD (originaly retailed at $3.00 AUD) or PhP 84.00 in Philippine Peso. Matchbox is distributed and sold in the Philippines by Richprime Global Inc now retailed at PhP 119.75 pesos!
