Yesterday someone shared on Twitter a joke that would become viral throughout social media for everyone sharing their initial reaction about the truth behind the 1997 hit song “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia.
every "90s kid" comes of age 3 times:

• 21st birthday
• the day they find out natalie imbruglia's version of torn is a cover
The reactions documented by Digital Spy could see the thread as part hilarious and at the same time sort of traffic for those who never knew it was a cover song that was originally sang by singer Lis Sørensen that was titled “Brændt” (Burned).
Then “Torn” was written by Scott Cutler and Anne Preven in 1993 with their band Ednaswap where they performed it live. “Torn” progressed into a rock song by Ednaswap in the early 1990s when they recorded and re-released it in 1995.
Imbruglia collaborated with Phil Thornalley the original producer of the Danish song, which they worked on her version that that became a hit in 1997.
When you look at it was not that big deal that is rarely a new song out there that’s original in this age of of social media. This just happened to those totally shocked since they originally casually knew the song as an original, which is not.
No pun intended but most those who shared their reaction got burned on this one.
