06.09.2017 – The Art Cars theme for Hot Wheels are a mix bag due to that some ‘art style’ works and also depends on which castings of cars being used. The theme has been part of the mainline ever since 2013 and made it an annual set.

For 2017 the Art Cars theme has something to do with the alphabet. In this year’s Art Cars they include new castings like the Volkswagen Golf Mk7, which is introduced in the Euro Style series a separate line from the mainline and this is its second release.

The latest iteration of the Volkswagen Golf is the seventh generation that is also the brand’s flagship car taking over from the Volkswagen Beetle going back to the 1970s. Its full description for this current model has been posted on Hot Wheels wikia regarding its latest mass-produced edition below:

The Volkswagen Golf Mk7 (also known as the Golf VII) is a compact car, the seventh generation of the Volkswagen Golf and the successor to the Volkswagen Golf Mk6. It was announced in Berlin on 4 September 2012, before a public launch at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. Compared to the previous generation, the Golf Mk7 has a roomier cabin, with greater shoulder room for the front and rear passengers, rear legroom and boot space.

The Mk7 Golf includes a lot of new safety features, including Proactive Occupant Protection which will close the windows and retract the safety belts to remove excess slack if the potential for a forward crash is detected. This is also the first series production Volkswagen with a multi-collision brake system to automatically brake the car after an accident in order to avoid a second collision.

Engine options at launch include 1.2 and 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol engines, with 84 hp (63 kW) and 138 hp (103 kW) respectively, and 1.6 and 2.0 litre diesel engines, with 104 hp (77 kW) and 148 hp (110 kW) respectively. The 1.6 TDI BlueMotion Concept has a theoretical combined fuel consumption of 3.2 l/100 km (88 mpg-imp; 74 mpg-US) and anticipated 85 g/km CO2 emissions.

Crash and Zoom

The Art Cars for 2017 theme is the letters of the Alphabet, which you can find in the roof of the car. The VW Golf Mk7 was part of the theme with the letter “A” on the top with “Crash!” and “Zoom!” tampograph on the side leaving the front and rear with no graphics for the taillights or rear lights not even the car’s emblem.

There have been two colors released the first one in yellow and this is the second variation in pink. The wheels for this one is in yellow while the previous release has white wheels. Hot Wheels tradition back then was more like realism that includes the colors, but they’re taking things crazier with loud colors which attract younger collectors. It’s clear how hard finding the interest for the older collectors to appreciate this type of color concept.

Wild Art Cars

This is not the first time Hot Wheels have produced licensed cars in their wild colors. It would be great if they just kept the wheels entirely black and have the rims colored yellow instead. But understanding the cost spends for every casting is not the way it used to be like back in the day so they came in yellow wheels.

Overall the pink colored VW Golf Mk7 is attractive having seen different cars painted in this shade just like the early releases like the Hummer in the Hot Bod theme. But the yellow wheels don’t find it justifiable to be an interesting casting though the color combination works.

“Volkswagen Golf Mk7” is part of the 2017 Hot Wheels series numbered 111 of 365 under the HW Art Cars sub-line under the enitre series manufactured by Mattel, which was acquired in Australia for $2.00 AUD or PhP 80.00 Philippine pesos.

Hot Wheels is distributed and sold in the Philippines by Richprime Global Inc currently retailed at PhP 109.75 pesos!
