This also introduced some of the supporting characters from Monsters Inc. particularly Randall “Randy” Boggs who happens to be the main protagonist in the original film.

The visuals compared to the original are by leaps and bounds now that they can animate Sulley’s fur in more photo realistic appearance as well as the other inhabitants who are studying in Monsters University. Dean Abigail Hardscrabble voice by Helen Mirren cast a huge shadow in our young monsters.

There are other new characters in the film but not to go through details who and what their role in the lives of Mike and Sulley. The plot and twist definitely is delivered and Monsters University has the right punch lines to make you laugh towards the end.

The story mainly has been inspired from previous movies that have a school theme to it and one particular idea where some of the unique plots where taken from “Revenge of the Nerds” that definitely acknowledge that 1980s film. The voice actors from Monsters Inc. bring back the memorable characters to life in their early years as students.

Overall Monsters University scores some big laughs and as well as entertains the younger audience that acknowledges also the adult viewers how school used to be fun and challenging at the same time memorable to earn a 9.5/10 rating as highly suggested.

Monsters University opens today June 26, 2013 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D cinemas in the Philippines from Walt Disney Studious to be distributed by Columbia Pictures!
