If you haven’t heard about this film you’ll think it’s just one of those romantic themes featuring two guys and a girl. What you should know this film has plenty of suspense going on and in-between the scenes it tells the three main characters’ own story.

This film is R-18 due to the immense violence in sex and A LOT of killing going on with such sheer brutality that Oliver Stone is familiar with.

The premise is about two best friends who are marijuana growers in Laguna Beach from California with a shared relationship a hippie girl named O (Blake Lively) who objected a partnership deal with a drug cartel that put them on a loose end. They are force to work with the cartel when they kidnapped the girl both men have fallen in love with.

Of course leaving the rest of the story is up to you to see in the big screen as Savages has the entire trademark Oliver Stone clichés all over the film. Great performance by the ensemble cast that definitely find this film interesting for crime thriller theme from the opening narrations of Blake Lively to the last gun shot fired.

It’s a very messy sight due to the gore of the film with Oliver Stone returns in making dark themes like this which definitely gives you a choice what to see in the cinema over the weekend. No doubt this is something that gives you a curiosity when you first see the movie poster.

And you thought it’s just another film that looks like a romantic comedy but if you see closely it could have fooled you but definitely would suit your curiosity. The list of cast itself would definitely sold you out unfortunately Uma Thurman’s character was cut off from the film. Though if you see it there’s nothing to miss seeing as the film rolls.

Overall it felt like a long winded film that gives you mixed thoughts on how you would appreciate it. But when you go through the scenes it felt like having illusions on what is really happening or you’re just being induced by the visuals that Oliver Stone has concocted having a natural high in seeing this.

Savages” will be shown exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas starting February 20, 2013 released by Universal Studios to be distributed by Solar Entertainment Corporation. Moviegoers can catch it at Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3, Trinoma, Alabang Town Center and Market! Market!
