12.23.2012 – The Lamborghini Reventón has evolved in the brand’s face being the most expensive road car to date unveiled in the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2007. It’s a mid-engine sports car capable speed of 356 kilometres per hour (221.2 mph) as recorded in Dubai, UAE.

It was officially announced to be made in limited numbers of 20 with an additional one car (marked 0/20) for the Lamborghini Museum. But it was rumoured they made 100 vehicles with each Reventón is clearly stamped with its number in the sequence of 20 between the driver's and passenger's seats.

The appearance resembles a sleek and fast stealth fighter jet that cost 2 million dollars where it was inspired from. The design appearance is all-new but all its interior parts most of the mechanical elements (including the engine) are sourced directly from the Murciélago LP640. Tomica has acquired rights to produce its 1/65 scale counterpart released in the 2011 series as number 113.

The Reventón meaning “small explosion” in Spanish was named after a bull has been in line with the Lamborghini tradition. The bull of course was definitely a small beast with a lot of explosion being the one killing a Mexican bullfighter named Félix Guzmán in 1943.

It was raised by the Don Heriberto Rodríguez family which gives us an interesting story of the beast that was named after the car which Lamborghini has discontinued after producing car #20.

Tomica of course produced more than 20 pieces with two color variations (the other is painted in white) to choose from and the box has a holographic stamp of the Lamborghini authenticity as a licensed product. True to the original it has a plastic glass cover revealing its engine with details of the head and tail lights which also emphasized the logo of the Lamborghini brand on top of the hood.

When you try to capture its image it doesn’t come in light grey as originally seen in the box art it appears mostly in dark grey. The tires and rims are black that Tomica should have at least add silver linings that the wheels would be visible similar to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

There were no special features in the Reventón other than its working suspension a standard for most fo the Tomica model cars that they have released.

In popular culture the Reventón became a known when it appeared in a key scene in the 2008 Dark Knight film where Bruce Wayne took the car and rammed it to an SUV to save Commissioner Gordon’s life as well as one of his employees trying to expose him that he’s using the company’s funds to finance his campaign in crime fighting as the Batman.

The same car was also used in the scene after Bruce Wayne went to a charity ball in the 2012 Dark Knight Rises movie which was stolen by Selina Kyle pretending to be “his wife” as the valet mentioned to him as she speeds off with the luxury sports car (see TV spot for the quick scene).

The Lamborghini Reventón is part of the 2011 Tomica series of die cast cars manufactured by Takara Tomy and locally distributed by Bankee Toys with the standard retail price at PhP 169.75 pesos.
