03.14.2012 – Brian McKnight is back in the Philippines after so many years this time he’s accompanied by his two sons Brian Jr. and Nicko McKnight who have made a name for themselves in popularizing the song “Marry Your Daughter” which they also sampled in acapella. Prior to the highlight of the press conference McKnight was introduced twice but never came until third try was a charm. It’s been a long time since McKnight was in town and the air around the Quezon C Ballroom of Makati Shangri-La was a buzz. The media was served with cakes and tuna sandwiches while they await the start of the press conference. When McKnight came to the huge door there was applause that welcomes him like a long time friend and he was happy to be back.

There were a few questions thrown in which was facilitated by a local radio DJ going as Macho Palito on i93.9FM. Brian McKnight talked about his friendship with Filipino talents like Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano.

McKnight was inspired to have met these famous Filipino icons of music and that wasn’t the end of continuous question. This also touches the topic about promoting his songs through the social media platform like Facebook or Twitter and how he continues to reach out to his fans.

He also shared the story how he composed a personal song to Kyla which turned out to be popular when she sang it on national television which was in Party Pilipnas. This started when Filipino artists interpreted one of his songs in their own style that caught McKnight’s attention which turned out to Kyla who was about to get married at that time. The conversation started back and forth through Twitter where they started talking until McKnight started writing the song for Kyla. He was not aware and very much surprised that Kyla would sing the song on Party Pilipinas and the rest was history.





There were some interesting anecdotes Brian McKnight shared with the media when his son Brian Jr. followed his footsteps. Brian McKnight Jr. also shared his dreams of becoming an NBA player but he decided to follow his father’s path as a composer and singer.

This is the first time in Philippines that Brian McKnight will perform together with two of his sons who made a name for their own after making a hit out of “Marry Your Daughter” this Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and then Brian will fly solo for another performance in Cebu which is his first the following day which is on a Saturday at the Waterfront Hotel.






After a few more question TV Patrol’s Ginger Conejero she requested if both Brian McKnight’s son Brian and Nicko who would do a sample of the song “Marry Your Daughter” which he jumped in to perform. There was a huge applause and anticipation for this Friday’s performance and you can’t miss this one time opportunity which happens at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
