10.07.2011 – The Black Eyed Peas has been visiting the Philippines since 2004 and had their albums went to break the Billboard Hit Charts as well as earning Grammy Awards. The third album titled Elephunk which spawned “Where’s The Love” in 2003. Starting today and the succeeding weeks we’re introducing each member of the fabulous four. He’s a musician, songwriter, singer, actor and producer who formed The Black Eyed Peas in 1995 along with Apl.De.Ap and Taboo then later with Fergie. William met Alan Pineda Lindo (Apl.De.Ap) and a friend named Dante Santiago when he was in his eighth-grader. The formation of the group was known as Atban Klann before they changed their name to Black Eyed Pods.
By the time the name change Dante was replaced by Jaime Luis Gómez (Taboo) and before you know it their first ever album “Behind The Front” was released with help of the soul singer and soul musician. Then again they finally renamed it what we know as the Black Eyed Peas.
They were soon signed by Interscope Records and released their first single “Join and Jam” in early 1998. The album was successful enough for the group’s contract to be renewed in 2000, and a second album was released titled “Bridging The Gap.”
During the release of their second album Will recorded his first solo release “Lost Change” which eventually was the same title of the movie that used his song as part of the soundtrack. Kim Hill was original female member of the group which replaced by Stacey Ferguson (Fergie) while the third album Elephunk was being made sometime in 2001.
In November 2002 “Where’s The Love” was their breakthrough single that sold 8.5 million which featured Justine Timberlake (even though he didn’t appear in the music video). Elephunk was commercially success and gain their presence in the music industry.
From 2003 to present the rest is history with the success of the group following with Monkey Business (2007), The E.N.D (2009) and The Beginning (2010).
In-between collaborating with other artists and musicians Will appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, appeared in a Snikers TV commercial, and voiced one of the characters in Madascar as well as Rio. He also appeared as himself in Tina Fey and Steve Carrell’s movie Date Night.
Will.I.Am has also got into fashion and technology as well as having his advocacy. Certainly he’s been around and expanded his name as his brand.
