In some twist of amazement this movie seems way up there compare to M. Night Shyamalan's Air Bender flop in the big screen.
The Devil Knows Best
Talk about a Devil in all of us and let's see who knows fear. You don't know which one is the Devil himself like Santa Claus knows who's naughty and nice. Virtual unknown cast of actors made good in this movie. No heavy weights but with a good concept to a great story they had it made. Plus chill factors in that makes more than just a shocker flick.
It would be cool if M. Night Shyamalan himself directed this film to redeem himself. For all the negative publicity he earned when he was given the directorial reigns on Air Bender this movie fits in his shoes tightly.
Unfortunately he was only attached as writer and producer for this film. What makes this a successful thrill movie is that M. Night Shyamalan has been synonymous with these types of film. Maybe it works for him to be known in this genre compared to directing a well known animated series made into film. But moving through The Devil its heart stopping as suspense had to stop you blinking not to miss what happens next.
You'll have second thoughts taking the elevator now, that you've seen this movie or just dissed it like a bad dream. This is not a movie for everyone and expect a lot of screaming with blood all over the place.
The Verdict
What made M. Night Shyamalan a household name is these brand of slasher/suspense films. Not general public type of movies like Air Bender. Though not a big fan of his previous film this one stood on its own. Let's just say he made a redemption for making up that huge brouhaha.
The Devil get 4 out 5 glass of red wine. It could have been a perfect 5 if he had directed the entire film. But this is all good for those who likes these types of film.
