05.03.2010 - Free Comic Book Day which is an annual event every first Saturday in the month of May was successful. Thank you to the fans who have lined up early in the morning. A gratitude of thanks to the comic shops, who participated in this year's event. Most notably Comic Odyssey at Robinsons Galleria Mall, which had the most attendance this year, and had the highest attendance FCBD event compared to last year. Not only comic book fans received their free comics, they where able to meet their favorite local comic book artists. Free Comic Book Day organized by Comic Odyssey last May 1, 2010 was a successful one generating its highest attendance. They started giving away comics at about close to 11AM and it lasted at until 2PM. Not only did they gave away the FCBD, but they also gave out some back issue comics. Plus they raffled off some graphic novels and compilations.
Comic Odyssey has been a regular participant of Free Comic Book Day, since it was introduced in the US back in 2002. In the Philippines they have been participating since 2006. Promoting not only FCBD but as well comic book artists and their local works.
Its been not only an annual event but also a get together, and meet up for comic book fans who appreciate the love for reading comics.
There are other comic shops who followed suit, but Comic Odyssey has been the fore front in promoting this yearly event. You should not miss this happening once a year every first Saturday of May.
It also help bring back the younger ones back to reading comics. That is one of the advocacy why Free Comic Book Day was founded. So most of the comics that are given away are for kids, and it surely help bring kids back to reading who have immense themselves into videogames.
