02.02.2018 – Food Trucks are something fairly common to collect in die-cast cars, but rarely in abundance when they are released in mainlines likes Hot Wheels or even in Matchbox. These days you can find them in various iterations that also got renamed.

“Quick Bite” is one of Hot Wheels oldest castings that still carry weight literally due to that it’s entirely made of die-cast. It has been renamed twice, but before delving to its history taking a closer look at the 2017 edition.

Food Trucks in die-cast form has been produced by Mattel to both of its brand with Matchbox having the Chow Mobile, which was originally simply known as the “Food Truck.” Hot Wheels having one of the oldest castings with “Quick Bite”, which was renamed previously as “Sweet Treats” in 2014 that originated as a less fancier and outdated name as the “Good Humour Truck.”

The name doesn’t sound like a food truck having a “Good Humour” for most of its life since 1984 serving ice cream. So most of its graphics of a fictional ice cream truck has already graced its full metal body that when you look down the list of its previous colors and makes it was originally selling Soft Serves for most of its existence in the mainline with the exception being included in the Archie series of bearing Veronica Lodge’s face.

Going Mexican

The “Quick Bite” always had fictional ice cream vendor names and there was one time a vegetable truck. It was used as a Burger truck and some clown’s front to kidnap children as previous graphics. For the first time since it was renamed into “Sweet Streets” in 2014 it became known as “Quick Bite.”

This time around the casting still unchanged the graphic shows that it’s selling Mexican street food. Before the casting was used for real life candy products like Cotton Tail or Tootsie Roll to name a few. But when it made a return for the 2017 mainline it’s now serving Mexican street food wait `til you see the 2018 release.

Serving Since 1984

You can say the “Good Humour Truck” lasted this long enough to have served ice cream, pizza, hamburgers or Veronica Lodge’s personal sweet ride to get Archie Andrew’s attention. Not to forget on the list of previous iteration as a truck that sell automobile spare parts how cool is that?

The casting remained unchanged for more than two decades why change now? “Sweet Streets” didn’t stick that long enough in 2014 and the casting was absent for two years until it made its return in 2017 as “Quick Bite”, which remained as its current name and for 2018 you’d be surprise as another story to tell unless you know that already do you?

Overall “Quick Bite” is a fun nod to classic Mexican food truck using the same old “Good Humour Truck” casting that has a seller standing inside the vehicle ready to serve those crunchy quesadillas that’s mouth watering as its cool graphic blending with the purple metal body. You can’t resist a food truck that’s been around and unchanged since 1984 and this might be the last look of its original casting once you pick up the 2018 version.

“Quick Bite” is part of the 2017 Hot Wheels series numbered 8 out of 10 under the HW City Works sub-line with overall numbered as 332 of 365 in the enitre series manufactured by Mattel, which was acquired at Kmart in Westfield Marion for $2.00 AUD or PhP 80.00 Philippine pesos.

Hot Wheels is distributed and sold in the Philippines by Richprime Global Inc currently retailed at PhP 109.75 pesos!
