The plot centers on FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) and Boston Detective Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), who must take down a mobster. In-between that premise brings conflicts that arise between the two characters.

Each of them has a past that they can’t accept and living a lie for what they truly are. Agent Sarah Ashburn looks a perfect foil to Detective Shannon Mullins.

There’s nothing much brings the film but the acting for both Bullock and McCarthy. In the sting movies that featured Melissa McCarthy the Heat she stretch out her comedic muscle that makes this one of the entertaining buddy cop films to come around. Sandra Bullock will always be remembered for being Miss Congeniality which produced two films and its mean a while since she get back to her comedic roots.

You won’t see her do another one of these comedy roles since she’s off to space trying to get Gravity of the whole situation. But what she brings to the Heat is a grounded personality in Agent Sarah Ashburn.

Overall it’s a “fun” buddy cop film that has the same formula that never gets old for its comedic nature with less of tact with boring action sequences. What makes the Heat stands out is the performance of the cast. You can never get enough laughs most notably with Melissa McCarthy certifying her as a break out star for this year.

The Heat opens in Philippine cinemas on June 27, 2013 from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros. Picture Philippines!
