08.15.2012 – Nelly Furtado is set to perform in the Philippines with the Gym Class Heroes. Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter’s first trip to the country will also be her debut performance at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on August 16, 2012.
The Canadian singer-songwriter burst into the music scene in 2001 with her debut album Whoa, Nelly. The first single, “I’m Like A Bird”, earned Furtado her first Grammy Award in 2002 for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. (Please CLICK on the title for the full article) |
Her second album Folklore, released in 2003 included the hit singles “Powerless (Say What You Want),” “Try,” and “Forca,” which was used as theme song for the 2004 European Football Championship. Her third album, Loose, produced the chart-topping hits “Promiscuous,” “Maneater,” “All Good Things (Come to an End)” and “Say It Right”.
On the other hand, Gym Class Heroes is a rap rock band from New York, USA, formed in 1997 when rapper Travie McCoy met drummer Matt McGinley during their high school gym class. Guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo and bassist Eric Roberts joined the group in 2003. The group has established themselves as one of the most exciting bands in pop music, topping the radio charts with hit singles, touring the world, making countless national television appearances, and winning multiple music awards, including the MTV VMA for Best New Artist in 2007. They are known for their smashing singles “Cookie Jar”, “Cupid’s Chokehold”, “Stereo Hearts” and “Clothes Off!”
