Yo! MC: The Next Jam!

07.07.2012 – The Yahoo OMG! Awards on its second year reveals the most popular personalities who have graced the event. This year features the best and the brightest people from the various media composed of TV, radio, and the internet. The SM Mall of Asia’s The Arena is the host for this year. The most glamorous celebrities walked the purple carpet to be part of the growing award giving body presented by Yahoo! OMG. The show is hosted by Isabelle Daza, Raymond Gutierrez, and Yahoo OMG’s Best Female Newcomer of the Year –- Solenn Heussaff! (Please CLICK on the title for the full article)

Filipinos love to be entertained and there was a huge turn out in the recently concluded Yahoo! OMG Awards where the glitz and glamour was ever present on this night where the winners took home the hardware. The night was not only geared to the awarding ceremony there was live performances. There was great dance numbers with Lovi Poe and Solenn Heussaff opening the program stunning the crowd.

There’s no need to go through the list of the nominees and winners but there are notable parts that happened during the awards night. The crowd went crazy when Christian Bautista was announced as the Best Male Singer.







The ladies in the audience went nuts when Enrique Gil was awarded Most Promising Actor. Then there was Breakthrough Actor and Actress with Xian Lim and Kim Chu who only appeared in the video wall being interviewed at the backstage. But to make it up for their fans when they where awarded Love Team of the Year they went on stage.

They did it again for the second time when Best Fan Club was announced together with the founders of that particular group known as KimXi. Vice Ganda was named Best Comedian to win the award and its one of the highlights of the night.







Prior to that the Rushers (The Fans of the radio show The Morning Rush) gave the loudest cheers to Chico Garcia, Delamar Arias, & Gino Quillamor for taking home The Best Radio Show.

There was one recipient that changed the mood of the evening which definitely made it worth remembering. This was a tribute to the Philippines one and only Comedy King Dolphy.

The veteran actor received a plaque of recognition from Yahoo! Philippines for his contribution to the entertainment industry the whole career, rather than just over the past year. Recently the actor was gravely ill but news is that he’s on his way to recovery who continuous to make millions of Filipinos laughs and forgets their problems through films, TV shows and stage plays.

Yahoo! OMG Awards conducted through a selection process via popular search queries and polling methods online on its leading entertainment property in the Philippines. This is also done thorough SMS voting sponsored by Sun Cellular which recognized is winners from 129 nominees in 26 categories.

The closing ceremonies have Mr. Pure Energy – Gary Valenciano and his son Gab Valenciano performing on stage in front of a lively crowd while purple confetti rain down inside SM Mall of Asia’s Arena.
