01.28.2011 - What is faith? In the truest sense a word each of us has one. I believe in a lot of things unreal or otherwise. Tell tale signs or just a figment of our imagination. I'm sure you have your thoughts reserved and buckeled up once you see "The Rite." (Please CLICK on the title for the full article) |
"The Rite" is a film based on Matt Baglio's The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist. Sir Anthony Hopkins as Father Lucas and Colin O'Donoghue as Michael Korvak a disillusioned young American priest.
After seeing the movie my thoughts are quite fairly mized. I'm not entirely a fan of the horror genre, but this gives you the idea how seriously exorcisms is taken by Vatican.
Basically the film is sort of a documentary based in true events, and somewhere out there this things are not to be taken lightly.
All but praised Sir Anthony Hopkins for another sterling performance. One might mistaken him from his other films roles, but believe me he could eat your brains out no in a literally sense. But for what other reason you may conjure in this film he does take it to the next level.
You can be entertained or see the film as a documentary, and something to be taken seriously. All we see here is being tested with our belief and faith.
Evidently based from last night's premiere we see a group of nuns and priest, who came to watch this film not for entertainment purposes. But I assume to give them the idea how this has portrayed the Vatican and exorcism in the film.
Overall its a an interesting film for those who like the horror genre, and this is not a scream fest for everyone. But rather an eye opener just like in this film your belief is tested through the eyes of Michael Kovak.
Indeed it was. This movie gets a 3 our of 5 stars for film, which would be passed as documentary than a horror movie.
"The Rite" opens in theaters across the Philippines on February 2, 2011 and distributed by Warner. Bros. Pictures Philippines.
