06.03.2010 - Are You The Philippines Smartest Driver? If you are then show your driving skills by joining Pilipinas Shell to share your fuel saving tip as it search for the country's smartest driver who will join Team Philippines in the first-ever Shell Eco-Marathon Asia. This is your chance not only to show your driving techniques, but also to show the country who are the Smartest Drivers in minimize fuel consumption and being streetwise in being part of the team. Everyone with a valid driver's license is eligible to join. All you have to do is shoot a video sharing your know how skills on driving as well as sharing your fuel saving tips by closing the catch phrase "Ang Pinoy na matipid sa gasolina, ___________." Then log-in to www.topgear.com.ph/shellsmartestdrivers and upload your video flick. The entry can be creative as you want to be or just plain and simple help tip for everyone.


Submission for all entries is from May 20 to June 20, 2010. Everyone who gets to join receives a premium item from Shell. After the submission period, ten finalists will be rewarded PhP 10,000 pesos worth of Shell Fuel vouchers, and will be invited to a fuel economy camp on June 26, 2010.

Team Philippines will conduct fuel economy camps from July 8 to July 11, 2010 at Mapua Institute of Technology, Don Bosco Technological College and the University of Santo Tomas in the first ever Shell Eco-Marathon Asia in Malaysia.

Rona Rodriguez-Baes, Shell Brand Manager states... "“At Shell we are passionate about helping Filipino motorists get the most out of every drop. We want to use the expertise inside Shell to help drivers become expert in fuel economy. In 2007, we committed to help them save 10% on their fuel consumption. And now, we are finding more ways to help them save on fuel.” This was an initiative started and currently continues as part of Shell's long history of helping motorists worldwide learn how to save fuel and cut costs for life. So if you are one of these people, who want to instill advocacy in sharing about saving fuel consumption be part of Team Philippines.

Here's one bit as an individual I can share one tip experiencing how to save fuel consumption. Way back in college I used to drive a 1976 Volkswagen Beetle.

Not only its saving fuel it also help me drive the car to school among friends and classmates. I organize a mini-car pool with my batch mates in college, since some of them also owns a car. We sometimes do alternates in bringing a car. So it benefits for everyone not only saves us going to school driving all our cars. It saves us gas money by taking the public transportation going to school too.
