07.17.2009 - Thanks to Warner Bros and Azrael for the exclusive invite on the advance press screening of Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince. The film is shown on July 15th, 2009 international release. Its now showing now in the Philippines to 300 theaters.

Rarely I get to post a review here. Anyways here's a sneak peek on my personal insight about this movie. And I'm sure everyone has read the book...

About The Movie

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a 2009 British fantasy-adventure film based of the novel of the same name by J. K. Rowling. It is the sixth film in the Harry Potter film series. It is directed by David Yates, the director of the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. David Heyman and David Barron produced the film, and Steve Kloves, screenwriter of the first four films, returned as screenwriter for this film. The film was theatrically released worldwide and is now showing in the Philippines.
Synopsis

Emboldened by the return of Lord Voldemort, the Death Eaters are wreaking havoc in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that new dangers may lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. He needs Harry to help him uncover a vital key to unlocking Voldemort’s defenses—critical information known only to Hogwarts’ former Potions Professor, Horace Slughorn. With that in mind, Dumbledore manipulates his old colleague into returning to his previous post with promises of more money, a bigger office…and the chance to teach the famous Harry Potter.

Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry’s long friendship with Ginny Weasley is growing into something deeper, but standing in the way is Ginny’s boyfriend, Dean Thomas, not to mention her big brother Ron. But Ron’s got romantic entanglements of his own to worry about, with Lavender Brown lavishing her affections on him, leaving Hermione simmering with jealousy yet determined not to show her feelings. And then a box of love potion-laced chocolates ends up in the wrong hands and changes everything.

As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof with far more important matters on his mind. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

The Verdict

To sum it up I won't give any spoilers for those who haven't read the book. But for those who's looking forward to seeing this film I suggest watching it on IMAX 3D format. The visual splendor is captivating for the first twelve minutes you'll see yourself immense in 3D stimulation. All the worth you spend on high quality seeing this film. Not only visually but to capture the sound quality as well.

Though there was not much action on this film compared to Order of the Phoenix. This one brings the story focused on the solo adventures of Harry & Dumbledore. Personally I haven't read the books, but I already know who will be the the next causality.

This time around the characters have grown up, since the first Harry Potter movie came out in 2001. Though this movie is leaving us more questions than resolving the answers from the previous movies.

All I can say is anticipation will have to wait until Deathly Hallows, which was announced to be divided into two parts shown in November 2010 & July 2011.

Overall score for this movie... Seven out of Ten.

Every Potter film gets better and better. Indeed.
