08.13.2006 –Whenever visiting the local record shops, it’s like going to the grocery store. You call it your personal escape from all the work you go through.

It’s not just an escape, it’s also a discovery of new things for your eyes to find fresh to check and probably acquire the CD for a good listen.

It’s been a long time since passing by the record shops with so many things happening personally, it’s a surprise to see something familiar, and yet, it’s new, or it’s a first time seeing it on the shelves or the rack.

Sometimes, I‘m lost for words to be surprised that you can be an inspiration to some to produce their own records, and don't come up with original titles until you see it.

Last April 2006, when I was looking for the collection Sergio Mendez's works at Tower Records in Glorietta, I chanced upon an album. Bearing the same name as the title of a Filipino artist's album, it sure has Cafe Bossa written all over it that hasa subtitle, "Boleros for a Coffee." Surprisingly, it may seem that the particular audio CD has been sitting pretty in its CD rack for quite some time now.

Untouched by anyone, the album contains some bossa sounds unfamiliar to my ears. I once told a friend about it, but I guess she had forgotten that this was the first album to bear the original title. Of course, I can't say anything more than I would like to have a copy of this album too.
