06.27.2006 - I became an instant fan of Whilce Portacio when he penciled the Uncanny X-Men and Wetworks, and in 1999 I met not only him but a certain inker who I became close friends with. I met Gerry Alanguilan his inker of the supernatural mini-series Stone under Avalon Studios, which was also published by Image Comics. During those days I was actively going to there book signings, and those times we constantly exchange stories through email.
As time goes by I haven't heard from Gerry, and he was busy with his personal life. I rarely had the chance to speak with him until summer 2004 at the Filbar's 25th Anniversary. I had a tragic year at that time when I lost my house from the fire, and that got my personal belongings. Including my large comics collection, that I had since I started in the early 90s. Among them are signed works of Whilce and Gerry. When I met him again during The 3rd Philippine Toys, Hobbies, and Collectibles Convention 2004 he made a promise to me. I guess I didn't took that seriously back then when he told me, that he will give me a compilation of one his works. Until he gave it to me at this year's Toy Con 2006. A compilation of Superman Birthright, which he worked with Mark Waid and Leinil Francis Yu in 2004 for DC Comics. It was an overwhelming experience to receive something from a friend I rarely see these days. Thank you Gerry this is something special for me right now to have one of you works as a very special gift that I didn't expect.
I guess it was a two year promise to me that I didn't take it seriously, but its all good thanks for making it very memorable for me this year. I can't wait to pick the second issue of his latest project titled Elmer something Filipino and quite indie comics. Hopefully I'll see him again soon thanks for this special token. I owe you one Gerry.

06.26.2006 - Its been a week after recently held The 5th Philippines Toys, Hobbies, and Collectibles Convention 2006. A lot of photos coverage came in this year's event that has shown that we filipinos can be world class when it comes to organizinf big conventions such as this.
This year has "Toy Con 2006" has lived up to everyone's expectation bringing international guest of honor Digger Mesch of Art Asylum to the local scene of toy collecting aficianados. In cooperation with Hero TV this year's event boast more cosplayers that we can compete with our foreign conterparts. Toy and fan groups Toy Empire, Star Wars Philippines, Toy Soldier, and Transformers Fans Philippines brings you true blue Filipino fandom originality to the local scene.
Next year could be a bigger event than we hope to imagine, and this could a big exposure to would-be artists, toy designers, and what not. The event is not only about toys, Hobbies and collectibles its about showing pure Filipino talent at its finest.
06.18.2006 - Three years ago I would it was some sort of an achievement for me to form a local toy group that involves transformerming robot toys. It would be a feat to organize and have a booth in a local convention, that is now the most sought after event when it comes to the month of June. This year is something I haven't fiugred out until I learned from it.
I said it before this event has become my yearly tradition something my Peter Pan instincts kicks in high gear. This year was rather different more relaxed. I'm not pressured but honestly its most tiring event I have ever been. Now in its fifth year the event has become a two-day monster gathering of people all walks of life who loves toys.
Going back to there childhood to bring the meaning hobbies, toys, and collectibles. I thought I had all figured it out, but I guess I still have a lot to learn from this year's event. You can view some first day event photos HERE
06.17.2006 - I shouldn't be at Stonehouse today just want to accompany one of my office buddies to have his CD signed with her. Unfortunately he didn't make it, and as what the message said that they had car trouble. Friday night Sitti rocked Stonehouse with a jampacked crowed, but there's no photo of her was taken today. What we have are the Real SiTTiZeNs honest to goodness beautiful people from the forums.
Among the people where spotted where JosepBossa, Issa, and Rachel with the other SiTTiZeNs and you can see some selected photos with her band including a certain celebrity from showbiz. All six photos are ready to be viewed HERE.
06.14.2006 - They say you'll grow up and forget your childhood behind you. I dont know if that's true I had a rich childhood getting the toys that I wanted was a breeze, but for some they had the hardest time to have there G.I. Joes, M.A.S.K, Transformers, and what not. I guess I was privilaged when I was young. Fast forward to the year 2006 I have grown up got a job and... Still got my toys. Two years I had them too, but they where lost in the fires that torn my old home.
Two years ago I'll ending up stopping myself from collecting and yeas that was before the accident. Two year after that I guess fulfillment has something to do with it, but they say you can't say no. I love toys they make me keep my mind working and get inspired to it. These days I'm no longer than anxious buyer or toy collector. I'm going to be there to give away toys. Did I say I'm giving away toys? Yes I guess I did... Actually my toy group will during the two day event that we joined in June 2003. The Transformers Philippines group is giving away the toys. Its a long journey for me and its time to return back the favor.
Expect us to be there. Expect me to be there. I'm going to enjoy this weekend. Away from work and you thought I have my hands full when it comes to this event? Well come join us and see the wonder why big kids love toys and the little one too. I'm sure Santa Azrael has a toy for you too. Two days at SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 2 from June 17th to 18th. Sun up to sun down there will be toys. We hope to see you there. Peter Pan is alive in kickin'!
06.14.2006 - This night wasn't about Sitti's spectacular perfomance at Tavern on the square its about the people closely to her. The crazy people known as the SiTTiZens, which would be the smiling bunch after Miss Bossangisngis 2006 sang the night away.
There weren't no dance number with Mygie or Sharon on stage. Just chill and hang out with the rest of the gangsters err-- The Gang. Thanks also to the cool Tavern Boys who works there night in and out. Shout outs to Garrie who's been lurking in the area, and you can't notice his height by the way. The concert is two months away, but if you missed last night's shenanigans go see all fifty seven photos HERE.
06.12.2006 - I had spent my late Saturday afternoon with Lyndon Gregorio creator of Beerkada comics at the SM bowling alley with his girl Chompy and the Beerkadets not to mention the Artists' Den who I used to hang out every Friday nights.
You can check out the handful of photos taken during Lyndon's birthday celebration HERE.
06.07.2006 - Bossa Manila's New "IT" Girl Sitti Starts the month of June 2006 a relaxing Tuesday night at Tavern on the Square with her family as her audience watching a her last night was a breeze. I thought I'll get the chance to see the rest of the SITTIzens from the forums, but I was there on my own sipping ice tea when I started her second set.
I was just around the area enjoying my Tuesday day-off from work, and was hanging around playing at Timezone. I wasn't planning to stay longer though, but I decided to stay besides making a favor to a relative who came from the states. Getting a signed copy of Cafe Bossa CD specially dedicated by Sitti herself. Check out last night's gig right HERE.
06.06.2006 - Thanks to Ryan Ambrosio for the photos and updates on his recent convention tour to Oakland Super-Con 2006. He was there for two days last May 20th and 21st to bring you some exclusive photos.

06.03.2006 - The strong rains never stopped Sitti as she performs in her finest ever last night at Eastwood Central Plaza. The people didn't go away waiting for Bossa Manila's Newest "IT" Girl coming from a private birthday party. Arriving almost two or three hours after the 8pm scheduled performance the crowd was captivated again.
Trully the Bossa Girl knows how to bring them all on there feet. Together once again the forum people known as the SITTIzens was in full force to support there barkada. For more of this Eastwood event check out the official coverage gallery HERE.
06.02.2006 - I'm halfway to my breaking point. but I keep it all in stride. Everyday this what I'm currently right now, and to see is to believe it...
